Agriculture — Ranch & Agriculture Investments
Agriculture and ranch investments, held for generations.
We invest in working ranches, farms, and the agricultural businesses that keep them whole — across Colorado, Wyoming, and the Mountain West, from our home in Denver.
Working rangeland in the American West.
A different kind of agriculture investment
Most agriculture investments fall into one of two camps. Some buy farmland and lease it out, collecting rent while someone else does the work. Others buy agricultural companies to sell them again in a few years. Omega does neither. We acquire established, working agricultural operations — the ranches, the farms, and the businesses around them — and we hold them for the long term.
That distinction matters. A ranch is not just acreage; it is a herd, a water right, a set of neighbors, and a family’s knowledge of the land. When it is bought only for its dirt, much of what made it valuable is lost. When it is bought to be flipped, the clock works against every good decision. We invest so that the operation keeps working, and keeps its people.
Why we pair land with the businesses around it
On its own, a ranch or farm often can’t carry the cost of the land beneath it. Land values in the Mountain West have long outrun what cattle, hay, or crops can earn in a single season. That gap is a major reason so many family operations are sold to developers or broken apart.
Our answer is integration. We build each agricultural platform around an anchor — often a processor — and connect it to owned and allied supply: cattle ranches, hay and feed, equestrian centers, and agritourism that put the land to work in more than one way. Value that would otherwise leave the region, at the processing plant or the sale barn, stays inside the platform and helps the land pay its own way.
Where we invest
Our focus is the Mountain West, with Colorado and Wyoming at the center. These are working landscapes under real pressure: development along the Front Range, an aging generation of owners, and a cattle herd that has fallen to its lowest level in about 75 years. They are also places where a patient owner can still buy good land with good water, run it well, and keep it whole.
How we underwrite agricultural risk
Agriculture carries risks that most investments don’t: weather, commodity prices, animal health, and water. We underwrite each of them before we look at the upside. That means conservative leverage, real operating data from comparable operators, commodity hedging where it applies, and financing built for land — including USDA-guaranteed, Farm Credit, and long-term land lenders. Where it fits, conservation easements can protect the land permanently and bring capital back into the operation.
Questions
Frequently asked.
How is Omega different from farmland investment platforms?
Most farmland platforms buy land and lease it to operators. Omega acquires the working operation itself, along with the processing and supply around it, and holds it for the long term. Investors own a share of the whole business, not just the ground beneath it.
Where does Omega invest in agriculture?
Our focus is the Mountain West, especially Colorado and Wyoming. We are based in Denver, close to the ranches, farms, and processors we own and pursue.
What kinds of agricultural businesses does Omega buy?
Cattle ranches, hay and feed operations, meat processors, equestrian centers, greenhouses, and agritourism properties, all established and operating. We do not buy turnarounds or raw land without an operation on it.
Can I invest alongside Omega?
Accredited investors can join our investor network to start a conversation. Opportunities are shared only with members of the network, through formal offering documents.
I own a ranch or farm. Would Omega buy it?
Possibly. We look for established operations whose owners care what happens next. You can stay on, step back over time, or hand it off. Start with a confidential conversation.
